Mine Inspections and Audit
An Artisanal Mining Right allows for small-scale, often manual, mining operations. These rights are reserved for Zambian citizens and cooperatives to promote local economic empowerment and community-led resource development
Who can apply?
A Zambian or cooperative.
Requirements
- Duly completed Form I with geographical coordinates of the area of interest which should fit the predefined cadastral grid as per form I.
- Environmental commitment plan
- Program of intended mining operations (should include proposals for the proper conservation and use of mineral resources in mining area in the national interest)
- Proposed programme for mining operations (Should include an estimate of the investment commitment in the approved format)
- Proposals for employment and training of citizens of Zambia.
- Proposal for promotion of local business development.
- Environmental commitment plan.
- NRC / NRC’s of Cooperative members registered under Cooperatives societies act 1998.
- Valid Tax clearance certificate (Issued under Income Tax Act Cap 323)
- Any other information which the Commission may require.

This is an authorization, given to any road-worthy motor vehicle (further called authorized vehicle), that allows for the transportation of more than 5 cases of 25 kg of nitro-compounds blasting agents or more than 15,000 detonators.

This is an Authorization granted to a Company to use a Winding Plant, which specifies the limitations of the use of such Winding Plant, and is issued by an Inspector of Machinery once compliance with the requirements of Regulations has been proved by actual test to the satisfaction of the Inspector of Machinery.

The approval is issued by the Mines Safety Department (MSD) to confirm the appointment of a person to a statutory position at a mining or mining-related operation.
